Locate a Book

Generally, most items in the EGSC Library are cataloged using the Library of Congress call number system. Most books will be located in the "Stacks" area behind the Reference desk. Books marked as "Reference" are non-circulating and will be located adjacent to the Library computer lab. Books marked as "Closed Reference" or "Reserve" are also non-circulating and are for in-library use only and may be checked out at the Circulation desk using your EGSC student ID card. Media items may also be asked for at the Circulation desk.

Check out a Book

When visiting the EGSC Library in person, you can bring the material you want to check out to the Circulation desk located in the center of the Library, near the entrance. A borrower must present his or her own EGSC student ID card or a government-issued photo id to check out material.

One's EGSC student ID or a government-issued photo ID are also required to use Reserve material, media items, or any other material that must be requested from Library staff.

Renew Material Online

To renew a book checked out to you, you must first log in to your library account. You can access this by going to the "My Library Account" link on the EGSC Library homepage, or by going to GIL and clicking on "My Account". Once there, login by entering your last name, EGSC student ID number, and your library PIN number (if you do not know this, click the "Get My PIN" button and it will be emailed to your EGSC email account).

Once logged in to your account, click on "Checked Out Items". Choose the item you would like to renew and click  the box to the left of its title. When you have clicked boxes for all the items you wish to renew, click on the Renew button at the bottom of the list. When your request has been processed, the system will return to the top of your account information screen. You can then scroll down your list of items to make sure that all items have been renewed. You should always perform this check since some items may not be eligible for renewal.

You cannot renew your items online if:

  • The item is being recalled for another patron
  • Your account is restricted for some reason (ie: unpaid library fines or a hold on your school account)
  • The item has already been renewed twice online.

In the last case, please bring the book to the Circulation Desk at the EGSC Library and staff will renew the item and reset the cycle so it can be renewed online two more times. If you can't determine why you can't renew an item, please check with a library staff member.

Request Non-EGSC Material (ILL)

Copy of Article:

  1.     Check the library catalog (GIL) by the Periodical Title/Journal Name.
  2.     If not found, request copy of article.


  1.     Check the library catalog (GIL).
  2.     If not owned, search the GILUC (Universal Catalog).
  3.     If not found in the GILUC, request it via interlibrary loan (ILL).


  1.     Check the library catalog (GIL).
  2.     Check ProQuest Dissertations Abstracts for full text.
  3.     If not found, request thesis/dissertation via interlibrary loan (ILL).

Book Chapter:

  1.     Check the library catalog (GIL).
  2.     If not found, request book chapter.

Make Copies, Scan, & Print


A copy machine is available for use in the EGSC Library. Copies are $.10 per page and may be paid for by cash only or by using Bobcat Bucks. For more information about using Bobcat Bucks, please click here.


Two scanners are located in the EGSC Library. Scannning services are free. Please ask at the Circulation desk for assistance with document scanning.


The computers in the EGSC Library use Go Print. Each student is provided a printing balance of 300 pages per semester by his or her technology fee. Additional pages may be purchased online or can be purchased on a "pay-as-you-print" basis for $.10 a page in the EGSC Library.
