Summer Jump Start Academy

What are you doing worthwhile this summer?

Summer Jump Start Academy is a summer program designed to provide students who are provisionally accepted (as well as those regularly admitted) for the Summer Jump Start Program additional assistance to be the most successful student they can be. The program is now available at all three campus locations (Swainsboro, Statesboro, and Augusta) and is an excellent way to "jump start" your college studies, meet faculty, learn how to manage the independence of college life, live in on-campus apartments, and most importantly, make new friends and connect to EGSC. Currently, On-Campus Housing is only available at the Swainsboro campus, as housing for those attending Statesboro or Augusta will need to be obtained off-campus in the area.

Students who are provisionally accepted and pass all summer courses and earn a “C” average or better (2.0 GPA) in those courses can then be regularly admitted for the Fall semester.

What is Included in the Program?

  • 12 available Housing spots guaranteed for Fall upon successful completion of program
  • Jump Start-specific Student Success course
  • Learning Communities in English and Math
  • Additional tutoring assistance out of the ACE (Academic Center for Excellence)
  • Assignment of faculty mentor

Who is Eligible?

Any student is eligible to participate in the Jump Start Program. We encourage students who either did not test or have submitted test scores that place them in the Learning Support co-requisite course(s). The Jump Start program includes required tutoring as well as participation in Learning Communities to improve student success. Students who wish to get a "Jump Start" on their classes are encouraged to attend as well to take advantage of even smaller class sizes.

Reserve your Spot

Students who are interested in participating in Jump Start should complete the Admission Application indicating their campus as Jump Start. Space is limited in On Campus Housing at the Swainsboro campus as it is first come-first served to the first 12 applicants. Upon successful completion of the Jump Start Program, Jump Start students will be guaranteed housing for Fall 2020.

Dates of the Program

The program begins on June 8, 2020.

Attendance at  EGSC's P.A.W.S. Orientation is a requirement for all new students at East Georgia State College. You will receive information about Orientation after you have been accepted into the Jump Start Program.
