Accepted Students

Congratulations on your acceptance to East Georgia State College and we are happy to welcome you as a Bobcat! As a new incoming student, you will need to complete the next steps for accepted students listed below. You can also and print these steps.

  1. Activate myEGSC account

    myEGSC is the student portal that you’ll use to access pretty much everything you will need as a student. Make sure to explore all of the links and learn to navigate the portal so you will be familiar with its use.

    Login information can be found by visiting myEGSC login page here. Your myEGSC username is the first part of your EGSC email address (everything before the "@" symbol.) You do not need to enter "@ega.edu" as part of your myEGSC username to log into myEGSC but the full email will be used to log into your Office 365 account. The initial myEGSC password is the last four digits of your social security number followed by the last two-digits of the year you were born. 
  2. Complete Online Orientation

    ALL new incoming students are required to complete the pre-Orientation process by watching a presentation and submitting a pre-registration survey. Students that successfully complete the Orientation process will be placed on a registration list to be eligible for classes. Students do NOT need to email advisors directly as a hold is placed on the student account preventing all registration until these steps have been completed.
  3. Submit Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

    This application will determine if you’re eligible for all federal and state aid programs, make sure to add East Georgia State College’s Code  of 010997. Your application for financial aid can also verify your citizenship.  You’re encouraged to submit a FAFSA, even if you think you’re not eligible for federal aid programs, as this application will review your eligibility for the HOPE Scholarship and other financial aid opportunities. Please note that you and your parent must have an FSA ID and PIN to complete and successfully submit this application. 

    Students that have not submitted a Financial Aid Application (FAFSA) will be required to pay out of pocket, otherwise they will be dropped from classes on the first day of the term!!
  4. Check your CatMail (Office 365)

    East Georgia State College provides each student with a college "CatMail" e-mail account through Microsoft Office 365. This is the official means of communication with students by various college departments (Business Office, Financial Aid, etc) at the college, and it is important to check your e-mail account regularly.  Download the app today!
  5. Apply for housing (optional)

    The housing application is only available to students attending the Swainsboro campus. Housing priority will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. Students who apply for Housing before July 1 will have the best opportunity for a room assignment, otherwise they risk being placed on a waitlist and may not guaranteed Housing for Fall.
  6. Verify Lawful Presence/Citizenship

    You must provide verification of a lawful presence in the United States to receive in-state tuition. Students who are considered International or undocumented must submit a Lawful Presence Opt-Out form verifying they understand they will be charged out of state tuition. 
  7. Upload Photo for ID

    To obtain your EGSC ID card at your Orientation session, you are required to upload an approved current photo. 
  8. Activate CampusLogic

    The Office of Financial Aid uses CampusLogic to assist students that are chosen for verification or have conflicting information from the results of their FAFSA. ALL students must activate their CampusLogic account by using their myEGSC credentials. Parents/guardians may also need an account to e-sign any required document for their student.

    *Students must have a completed FAFSA on file before activation
  9. Submit Immunization Form

    In accordance with University System of Georgia Board of Regents Policy 4.8.2, Georgia College requires the following immunizations of all incoming students.  Students must submit proof of required immunizations, certified by a health official, prior to matriculation. Required Immunizations include: Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR1/MMR2), Tetanus/Diphtheria (MTD), Varicella (MCP/Chicken Pox) and Hepatitis B (HepB). If you’ll be living on campus, you must also obtain the Meningitis/Meningococcal (MENI) vaccine.

    Students who are enrolled in fully online distance learning programs are exempt from immunization requirements as long as they only enroll in fully online courses.  Distance education students who enroll in an on-campus course or a course offered at a campus managed facility will be excluded from class until proof of immunization is submitted.

    Religious, military and online only exemptions will need to complete the exemption portion located at the bottom of page 1 of the immunization form.
  10. Take Accuplacer Placement Exam

    Students who did not take the ACT/SAT or if ACT/SAT scores did not meet minimum requirements are automatically placed in Learning Support co-requisite courses in English and Math. Students have the option to take the Accuplacer for exemption of these courses. Exams must be taken prior to the start of the term and cannot be taken after enrolling in academic courses. Any ACT/SAT/Accuplacer test scores must be submitted for review (SAT Code - 5200, ACT Code - 0799).

    Please note that ALL Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) majors are required to take the Accuplacer tests or submit any and all ACT, SAT, or previous Accuplacer test scores.
  11. Review and Accept Financial Aid Award

    Review your financial aid award in Banner Web in the Financial Aid tab. You must accept/deny aid as needed. Check remaining balance due and be prepared to pay your bill by the first day of class. Contact the Financial Aid Office by Phone at 478-289-2009. 
  12. Register for Nelnet tuition payment plan

    Tuition payment plans break down your tuition balance into affordable monthly payments. There’s no interest, payment options are flexible, setup fees are affordable, and it’s easy to enroll! Students who have not received their financial aid by the first day of class or on move-in day, or those that that plan on paying out of pocket for their tuition are encouraged to register for the Nelnet tuition payment plan to prevent being dropped from their classes. This can only be done once the student has registration on their account.
  13. Authorize Fees

    In order for your Financial Aid funds to be used to pay your Tuition and Fees or to be used in the book store (electronic Book Voucher) you must first "Authorize" East Georgia State College to use your funds to pay on your account. Federal Aid and Hope Aid are authorized separately. If you elect not to let EGSC use your Financial Aid for tuition and fees, you will be required to pay out of pocket any tuition and fees owed by the fee payment deadline or your courses will be dropped. Your Financial Aid disbursement will be electronically deposited to your designated financial institution approximately 10 days after courses begin.
  14. Send Final Transcripts

    If you are still in high school, please request a final transcript to be sent upon graduation that shows all credits and date of graduation. If you have attended college while in high school through Dual Enrollment or are transferring in from another college, we will need final transcripts from all colleges attended with final grades posted. Make sure they are sent to us directly from the college once you complete all of your Dual Enrollment work. Mail to: Office of Admissions, East Georgia State College, 131 College Circle, Swainsboro, GA 30401.   15. Submit any ACT or SAT scores (if applicable)

    If you have taken the ACT or SAT and wish to see if you can exempt Learning Support classes, you will need to submit these before registering for classes. Follow the instructions to print the SAT report here or print your ACT full score report.
  16. Submit AP, CLEP, or IB scores (if applicable)

    You must submit these before registering for classes in order to receive college credit. Mail to: Office of Admissions, East Georgia State College, 131 College Circle, Swainsboro, GA 30401
  17. Apply for VA Education Benefits

    Military personnel, their spouses, and their dependent children may be able to receive military benefits to pay for their tuition here at East Georgia. Students must submit an online application (VONAPP) through the VA. Once approved, the VA will issue a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) to the student and the VA Certifying Official requires receipt of a copy of the COE for verification and authorization of benefits. Students are certified by the institution at the beginning of every semester, immediately following Schedule Adjustment. Any changes to your degree, transfer pathway or enrollment (drop/add/withdrawals) must be reported to the VA Certifying Official.
