Housing: Important Dates

Spring 2019

December 1, 2018: Spring Tentative Assignments Made and Waitlist Established
New students to EGSC will be notified today about their tentative spring 2019 room assignment or their placement on the waiting list for spring 2019. Remember that rooms are assigned on a first come first serve basis and are determined by the date on which you complete your housing application. A complete application must contain a completed housing application, housing agreement, Criminal Background Investigation Request Form, and housing application fee. December 14, 2018: New Spring Students Notified of Firm Room Assignment and Roommates
Students who will be entering housing in Spring 2018 will receive a firm room assignment as well as contact information for their new roommates on Friday, December 14, 2018. Keep an eye on your EGSC student email for more information.

January 11, 2019: Residence Halls Re-open
At 9am on this date, students who are financially cleared may return to their residence hall.

January 14, 2019: First Day of Classes for Spring
Classes begin today for Spring term 2019 on the Swainsboro campus.

January 16, 2019: Final Fee payment deadline for Spring 2019
Students must pay all fees and/or solidify financial aid for spring bill payment or risk being removed from housing.

February 25 - March 1, 2019: Heath and Safety Inspections #1
Health and Safety inspections of all resident units will occur during this week. Keep an eye out for a posting on your apartment door that will give you the exact date and time of your apartment inspections.

March 1, 2019: Spring Break Stay Request Form Emailed to Residents
Students who need to stay on campus during the break because they are homeless or have a job in the area they must maintain may sign up on the online break request form that will be emailed to them on this date. Keep an eye on your Catmail student email for this form. Students who do not sign up in advance for break stay will lose their access to the building for the week.

March 16-24: Spring Break
Residence halls close Saturday, March 16 at 5 p.m. and reopen on Sunday, March 24 at 9 a.m. for all housing residents. Residents requiring housing during the break period must complete a break stay request form at least 2 weeks in advance of the break. Direct questions to Angela Storck, Director of Housing and Residence Life.

March 25-29: Housing Same Space Renewal (Now Online!)
Residents interested in renewing their SAME RESIDENCE HALL ROOM assignment for Academic Year 2019-20 should do so during this period of time.

April 1 - 5: Housing Different Space Selection (Now Online!)
Residents interested in renewing but selecting a DIFFERENT ROOM for next year can do so during this time period.

April 8-12, 2019: Heath and Safety Inspections #2
Health and Safety inspections of all resident units will occur during this week. Keep an eye out for a posting on your apartment door that will give you the exact date and time of your apartment inspections.

April 1-31: Resident Assistant Recruitment and Interviews for Fall 2019
Applications Online - March 25- April 5
Group Interview - April 13, 10am-Noon, Clubhouse
Individual Interviews - April 15-19
Reference Checks - April 22-26
Tentative Offers made by May 15 (Once Spring Grades Post)

May 1: Deadline to cancel summer housing application without cancellation fee!

May 6 - 9: Final Exams Spring 2019

May 10 - Spring 2019 Commencement

May 12 @ 5 p.m.: Residence Halls close for spring term.
All residents must be out by this time. To check out properly, ensure your items are moved out, your room space and common spaces are cleaned, and you turn your keys into the clubhouse offices. If you are continuing for Maymester, you will stay in your spring space until your summer space is ready.

Summer 2019

May 13 - 29, 2019: Maymester Housing Period
Students staying for Maymester will remain in their spring housing assignment until their summer assignment can be cleaned. ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO RELOCATE TO A SUMMER HOUSING AREA IF TAKING SUMMER CLASSES.

May 29, 2019: Move Out for Maymester Only Classes
Students who are taking only Maymester courses must move out on this date.

May 31, 2019: Summer Session I and Summer Session II Move in Date
Students enrolled in Summer Session I (May 31 - July 26) or Summer Session II (May 31 - June 27) will move in on this date.

June 27, 2019: Summer Session II Move Out Date
Students enrolled in only Session I Classes (May 31 - July 26) will move in out on this date.

June 28, 2019: Summer Session III Move in Date
Students enrolled in Summer Session III (June 28 - July 26) will move in on this date.

July 26, 2019: Summer Session I and III Move Out Date **
Students enrolled in Session I (May 31-July 26) or Session III (June 28 - July 26) will move out on this date.


All summer school students must move out by July 26, 2019. There will be no storage of belongings permitted during the break between summer and fall terms. Please plan accordingly.
**Deadline to use summer meal plan flex funds.
 

Fall 2019

July 1, 2019: Deadline to cancel Fall 2019 housing application without financial penalty.
Students who cancel their Fall 2019 application for housing on or before this date will not receive a $1000 cancellation fee. Any student who cancels after this date, but prior to Fall move-in will incur a $1000 cancellation fee. Any student who cancels after checking in and receiving keys will be responsible for the first semester's rent and a $1000 cancellation fee. Be sure you read your housing agreement thoroughly before signing it.

August 1, 2019: Financial Aid Letter to Appeal Deadline
Students on financial aid suspension for Fall 2018 must submit their appeal letter by this date for consideration.

August 9, 2019: Bobcat Passes will be sent via email to students who are financially cleared for Move-In
Students who have completed all necessary financial aid documentation, been awarded aid, and/or who have paid their balance in full by this date will receive a Bobcat Pass. This pass should be printed or presented at the check in location before receiving room keys. If you do not receive a bobcat pass, please visit the JAM center to speak to a business or financial aid representative about settling your account.

August 12, 2019: Athlete Early Move-In
Athletes who need to arrive early for practice and conditioning may move-in on this day. You must be financially cleared for move in and have completed your housing application before you will be permitted to move in.

August 15, 2019: Bobcat Villas West Move-In Day (9am-5pm)
Students who will be residing in Bobcat Villas West are encouraged to move-in on this day to avoid congestion and long lines at the financial aid and business office. You will be doing yourself a favor by coming on this day!

August 16, 2019: Bobcat Villas South Move-In Day (9am-5pm)
Students who will be residing in Bobcat Villas South are encouraged to move-in on this day to avoid congestion and long lines at the financial aid and business offices. If you would like special permission to arrive on Thursday, that can be arranged as well.

August 17-18, 2019: Returning students who are financially cleared may move-in (Noon-5pm)
Take care of your financial business before the weekend because weekend services will be limited. If you are not financially cleared, you will not be permitted to move-in.

August 18, 2019 @ 7pm: Mandatory Housing Meeting (Auditorium)
All residential students, including early arriving athletes, must attend the housing orientation meeting in the Auditorium. Attendance will be taken.

August 19, 2019: First Day of Classes
Ensure that you attend every class during the first two weeks of classes to avoid being dropped for non-attendance.

September 23-27, 2019: Health and Safety Inspection #1

November 8, 2019: Thanksgiving and Winter Break Stay Request Form Sent to Students

November 23 - December 1, 2019: Thanksgiving Break Week
All students are required to leave this week unless they have extenuating circumstances. Students who wish to remain in housing during this break period must submit a break request form at least 2 weeks prior to the start of the break.

December 15, 2019: Move Out for Fall 2019
Students must depart for Winter Break by 5pm on Sunday, December 8th. Students needing winter break housing will be required to pay an additional $200. More information on Winter Break housing will be distributed shortly after Thanksgiving. Keep an eye open for the information in your Catmail.

December 9, 2019 - January 9, 2020: Winter Break Period
Only approved students who have signed up and agreed to pay the $200 Winter Break Fee will be permitted to stay during this time period.
