Art Explosion on Campus

At East Georgia State College, we are fortunate to enjoy a beautiful natural landscape complemented by modern facilities, all of which contribute to our successful academic learning environment. The Art on Campus initiative was established in 2012 to provide a visible extension to our educational and outreach mission. It is designed to provoke thought and reflect the importance of art in our everyday surroundings.

We have implemented a systematic catalogue and installation of artwork throughout East Georgia State College’s Swainsboro and Statesboro campuses. This program has allowed us to expand our unique college setting to facilitate creativity, improve the quality of life and connect us to the community-at-large.

Artwork is displayed in interior public spaces to serve as touchstones that encourage and enrich learning, foster an understanding of the interconnection between disciplines, and emphasize the importance of history and culture.

Art Collection

Campus exhibits feature artwork in our catalogued collection and encompass a wide range of mediums to illustrate cultural and artistic diversity. The collection includes art created by our students, faculty, staff and regional artists. Also featured is a commissioned collection of watercolor pieces by Georgia artist, Alan Campbell, highlighting local scenes in Emanuel County.

Self-Guided Art Tours

Our artwork is available for public viewing through self-guided tours during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

EGSC Purchase Prize

Since the college’s founding, EGSC art students participate in an annual juried exhibition. The winning work is then awarded the coveted Purchase Prize, which means that the artist receives a monetary prize and their work becomes part of EGSC’s permanent collection. The Purchase Prize artwork is displayed at all three EGSC locations.
