Daily Fire & Crime Log

The East Georgia State College Police Department maintains a daily fire and crime log in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). Log entries are intended to provide transparent and timely information about criminal, non-criminal, and fire related incidents reported to campus police. Incidents are to be entered within (2) business days of being reported to campus police. In some cases, there may be a gap between the occurrence of an event and when it was reported.

The College may withhold information from entry if any of the following conditions apply:

- The disclosure is prohibited by law.
- If disclosure would jeopardize the confidentiality of a victim.
- If disclosure would jeopardize an ongoing criminal investigation or the safety of an individual.
- If disclosure would cause a suspect to flee or evade detection.
- If disclosure would result in the destruction of evidence.

2025010001	Medical Emergency	100 Block E. Highway 80 Swainsboro, GA	01/01/2025 10:55 a.m.	1/3/2025 3:46 p.m.	Closed-Resolved. EGSC PD assisted SPD with an elderly subject who was not breathing. Officer attempted life saving measures until EMS arrived.
2025010003	Fire Alarm	30 Bobcat Lane Swainsboro, GA	01/05/2025 8:04 p.m.	01/05/2025 8:18 p.m.	Closed-Resolved. Fire alarm at Bobcat Villas was determined to be caused by burning food in the oven.
2025010004	Fire Alarm	30 Bobcat Lane Swainsboro, GA	01/08/2025 2:33 p.m.	01/08/2025 3:02 p.m.	Closed-Resolved. Fire alarm at BCVW Residence Hall. Student turned on a stovetop element with an air fryer on the top of it. Melting plastic caused alarm to sound causing an evacuation. Apartment was inspected and cleared by EGSC PD and SFD.

2025010006	Fire Alarm	30 Bobcat Lane Swainsboro, GA	1/12/2025 4:49 p.m.	1/12/2025 5:05 p.m.	Closed-Resolved. EGSC PD responded to BCVW in reference to a fire alarm. Investigation found the alarm was false due to a system error.
