What is an Investiture Ceremony?

An Investiture Ceremony is counted among the oldest traditions of academia. Originating in English universities and modeled after highly dignified knighthood ceremonies, investiture comes from the Latin phrase for "dress in robe." In academic circles, the term has come to mean one who will literally don the university's insignia and regalia.

The installation of a new president is a ceremony of dignity with many academic traditions and protocols. An academic procession takes place that includes delegates from other colleges and universities.

How long will it last?

The ceremony will last approximately one hour. The BBQ Luncheon will immediately follow.

Who is invited to the ceremony?

The investiture is open to the community. Anyone who is interested in attending is welcome. However, we ask that guests RSVP by October 6, 2023, if possible. RSVP here.

What is the attire for the event?

Business attire is preferred.
