Non-degree seeking students are generally non-traditional students who are seeking to further their education but are not seeking to complete a degree. These options are designed to accommodate a small number of students with very specific academic goals, to pursue some special interest, or for self-enrichment and do not wish to work toward a degree.

Admissions Steps

  1. Apply online: Complete the admissions application.
  2. Submit your high school and/or college transcripts: East Georgia accepts transcripts through electronic transcript services such as Parchment, National Student Clearinghouse, GA Futures, etc. Please do not fax or email transcripts. If not sent electronically, high school transcripts may be mailed or submitted in person. They will be considered official as long as they remain in the original, sealed envelope from the school. If not sent electronically, college transcripts must be mailed directly from the institution. They will not be considered official if submitted directly from the student. To order transcripts, refer to the Registrar’s website at your previous institution.
  3. Verification of lawful presence: If you want to be considered for in-state tuition or receive financial aid, please submit your verification of lawful presence.
  4. Check your application status: This status will reflect information we have in our records. You will be able to learn of your admissions decision as soon as it is made without having to wait for an official email or admissions letter.
  5. Complete the FAFSA: Start the financial aid process to determine financial aid eligibility. Learn more about financial aid and scholarships here.

    • Submit your official high school transcript showing a graduation date OR an official score report from GED, HiSET, or TASC. If you hold an associate (does not include applied science) or bachelor's degree, send an official transcript from the degree-granting institution instead of your high school transcript or GED, HiSET, or TASC scores.
    • An undergraduate applicant admitted as a non-degree student is allowed to earn up to 12 semester hours. Students may not enroll in any course for which there is a learning support prerequisite unless they have been screened for and have exempted the relevant learning support course. Students are advised to check course prerequisites and descriptions carefully and to consult with an academic advisor prior to registering for courses.
    • Non-degree seeking students are not eligible for financial aid and must wait until the first day of classes to register.
    • Post-associate or bachelor's non-degree seeking students must have earned an associate degree (does not include applied science) or bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
    • You may audit a class for no academic credit if space is available in the course you would like to audit. You will not be required to take course exams. If you are applying for admission solely to audit a course or courses, apply as a non-degree seeking student. After you are accepted for admission and during the course registration period, you must inform the registrar and your course instructor that you intend to audit the course. Once enrolled, you cannot change from audit status to credit status, nor can you receive retroactive academic credit. If you wish to receive academic credit, you must take the course again. Note that you will pay the regular course rate for tuition, fees and books.

Submit your verification of lawful presence documentation.

    • This is not required if you pay out-of-state tuition.
    • Out-of-state tuition is much higher than in-state tuition. Estimate costs.
    • Admission to EGSC is not contingent upon proof of lawful presence.
    • If you no longer wish to be considered for tuition at the in-state rate, please contact us at admissions@ega.edu so that we can remove the requirement from your record.

All new students (freshman, transfers, and others) attending in person classes will be required to submit a Certificate of Immunization prior to the first day of classes. The certificate will be kept on file and will be valid throughout the tenure of the student's enrollment.

Students who plan on enrolling in fully online classes may or due to conflict with religious beliefs may request an exemption on the immunization form located here.
